"Fisk-Munson Tango II". The sparks fly as Carlton Fisk and Thurman Munson exchange pleasantries at home plate on August 1, 1973 at Fenway Park. In a game in which the score was tied at 2-2 in the top of the 9th inning, Yankee catcher and Fisk archrival Thurman Munson attempted to score on a Gene Michael missed bunt attempt. Munson ran full tilt into Fisk, and seemed to take too much time getting off of Fisk, which led to a bench-clearing brawl and the ejection of both catchers. Notice that Fisk is clearly holding the baseball...Munson was out. Collection of Mike Andersen. Courtesy of the Sports Museum.
